GenZ Area

The arrival of Generation Z in the workplace is transforming organisational culture, expectations, and patterns of interaction. Younger professionals often seek environments that support collaboration, continuous learning, social connection, and a stronger sense of purpose. This project explored how workplace design can respond to these emerging cultural shifts while creating conditions that support engagement and belonging.

Developed for EY’s Milan headquarters, the study investigated how neuroscience and environmental psychology can inform environments tailored to new ways of working and learning. Rather than creating a space defined by age, the project focused on the behavioural and emotional characteristics associated with younger generations, including flexibility, curiosity, peer learning, and the desire for meaningful interaction.

The proposal examined how spatial settings influence onboarding processes, knowledge exchange, mentorship, and community formation. Different environments were conceived to support collaborative activities, informal encounters, focused work, and social engagement, recognising that learning often occurs through interaction rather than formal instruction alone.

The resulting concept positions workplace design as a strategic resource for organisational evolution. By translating insights from neuroscience and environmental psychology into spatial strategies, the project demonstrates how architecture can help organisations attract, support, and retain new generations of talent.
