Bucarest HQ

The contemporary workplace is increasingly expected to support a diverse range of behaviours, from concentrated individual work to spontaneous collaboration, social exchange, and knowledge sharing. As organisations evolve, the challenge lies not only in accommodating new work patterns but also in creating environments capable of strengthening identity, culture, and belonging.

Developed for the new headquarters of Deutsche Bank in Bucharest, this project explored how behavioural dynamics can inform workplace design. Working in collaboration with Prographic, Tuning Arch contributed a neuroscientific brief aimed at understanding how employees perceive, interpret, and interact with their everyday environment. Rather than focusing exclusively on spatial efficiency, the study examined how environmental conditions influence attention, motivation, engagement, and interpersonal relationships.

Particular emphasis was placed on workplace identity and the creation of recognisable environments capable of supporting different cognitive and social needs. The research investigated environmental legibility, informal interaction, opportunities for restoration, and the balance between collective and individual activities. The objective was to provide a framework capable of supporting organisational performance while enhancing everyday experience.

The resulting guidelines translated insights from neuroscience and environmental psychology into practical design recommendations, helping the architectural team evaluate decisions through the lens of human behaviour. The project demonstrates how workplace design can become a strategic tool for strengthening culture, wellbeing, and long-term organisational resilience.
