Conselve Swimming Pool Centre
Physical activity is closely connected to perception, emotion, and wellbeing. Sports facilities therefore have the potential to become much more than technical infrastructures, providing environments that encourage movement, social interaction, and positive experiences for a broad range of users. This project explored how architecture can contribute to these objectives through the design of a public swimming centre.
The concept investigated the relationship between movement, water, light, and landscape, seeking to create a spatial experience that extends beyond the functional requirements of sport. Particular attention was devoted to the sequence of environments encountered by visitors, from arrival and preparation to physical activity and relaxation.
Natural light played a central role in shaping the atmosphere of the building, while visual connections with the surrounding landscape strengthened orientation and environmental quality. The design sought to create an experience that feels both dynamic and restorative, supporting physical wellbeing while fostering a stronger connection between users and their environment.
By considering the emotional and perceptual dimensions of movement, the project demonstrates how neuroscience and environmental psychology can enrich the design of recreational facilities. The result is a public building that combines technical performance with architectural quality, creating an environment that supports both individual wellbeing and community life.
